Private School Cleaning The Key Benefits of Bringing in Pros

We recently published a blog post discussing how to schedule summer deep cleaning in a private school environment. We want to continue that line of thinking with this post, focusing more on cleaning during the actual school year. There are benefits to bringing in professional cleaners rather than leaving the task to janitorial staff.

For the purposes of this post, we need to identify three levels of cleaning typically found in private schools:

  1. Janitorial – Janitorial cleaning includes minor cleaning tasks like spot cleaning bathrooms, cleaning up accidental spills, emptying trash cans, etc.
  1. Intermediate – Intermediate cleaning involves more complicated tasks. It includes things like vacuuming carpets, mopping floors, cleaning locker rooms, and so forth.
  1. Deep – Deep cleaning is just as its name implies. It involves shampooing carpets, stripping and refinishing floors, sanitizing bathrooms, and more.

A private school’s janitorial staff can manage all three levels with enough time and the proper resources. But does it make sense for the janitorial staff to address intermediate and deep cleaning? It could go either way.

Bringing in Professional Cleaners

A professional organization with plenty of business cleaning experience should be able to manage all the cleaning needs a private school might have. Professional cleaners can be brought in exclusively during the summer months to handle deep cleaning. But they can also be brought in during the school year to manage intermediate cleaning needs.

From our perspective, there are a number of benefits to having professional cleaners work in a private school throughout the year:

1. Less Stress on Janitorial Staff

Private schools are not known to have armies of janitors keeping things clean and orderly. Therefore, the small number of janitors at a given school might be subject to quite a bit of pressure. Between routine janitorial tasks and more pressing intermediate cleaning, janitorial staff might be subjected to unnecessary stress.

Turning intermediate cleaning tasks over to a business cleaning profession takes some of the stress off janitorial staff. They can address their daily tasks with the confidence that they will get everything done before the end of the day. And when they do have some free time, they can also pitch in with some of the intermediate and deep cleaning tasks.

2. Improved Hygiene

Schools of all types are a breeding ground for germs. One child gets sick, and the illness runs through the school like a river. Therefore, hygiene is a priority. Therein lies one of the biggest advantages of turning intermediate and deep cleaning over to professionals.

Professional cleaning can help minimize the spread of illness through improved hygiene. A cleaning service has access to cleaning solutions, tools, and strategies that mitigate germs and bacteria. And when hygiene is improved, students and staff miss fewer days due to illness.

3. Improved Productivity

Janitorial staff can find themselves pulled in multiple directions on any given day. Staff members can be distracted from daily janitorial cleaning by maintenance tasks that take longer than expected. It all boils down to less productivity.

On the other hand, professional cleaners focus only on cleaning. They are fast, efficient, and highly productive. Investing in professional cleaning tends to pay off dollar-for-dollar in the sense that a private school gets more for every dollar spent on cleaning.

Professional cleaning may not be the right solution for every private school. But it is still worth it to school administrators to at least consider the possibility. Bringing in a business cleaning provider to manage intermediate and deep cleaning could be the best thing a private school ever did for its janitorial staff.
